![]() Cherry Coffee Table Ideas and DealsCherry Coffee Table designs, brands, and construction can vary greatly, but they all have that great look of Cherry wood. Cherry Wood’s dark elegant finish has long been a favorite for a more contemporary look. The cheaper models can be finished with a veneer that is a laminate that looks like Cherry wood. This is not exactly Cherry, but still looks good nonetheless. You can get many of these veneer designs from a big box retailer for under $100 and up. Veneer Finish Cherry Coffee Table: Don’t let the word veneer fool you, some of these tables are of extreme quality. When you start to get into the mid-price range of coffee tables ($100 and up) these tables can be made of solid wood covered with a thin Cherry wood finish. Other cheaper models will be made of particle board and covered with a laminate skin. These higher quality models will have a veneer finish up to 1/8 inch thick, or sometimes even thicker. That’s great because when you put a tiny scratch in the table you don’t want to see a white mark showing the cheap wood inside! So make sure you know exactly what you are getting and you’ll have a better looking table after it’s been worn for a few years.Solid Cherry Coffee Table: With these coffee tables, you know exactly what you are getting. You won’t have to worry about scratching the wood only to see white underneath. These are solid, pure cherry wood. Obviously the pricing will be a bit higher and you can usually plan on paying more than a veneer design. You know you are getting a veneer design if it says Cherry finish on the product description. Whereas the solid cherry wood design will say solid Cherry. You’ll have a heavier table for sure with a solid cherry table, and you can expect to pay in the thousands of dollars for a larger coffee table.Workmanship of a Cherry Coffee Table: Was the cherry table hand crafted? And some other elements that will give it a good look and effect the pricing… Hand crafted furniture will obviously cost more money, but looks great and you know someone put their blood and sweat into the peice of art you are now using as your coffee table. -Hand Distressing: This is a technique that is used when wood workers want to make the table look like it is an antique. There is a subtle art to this. You can’t just slap it with a hammer a few times, there is a different technique for different builders and it is a true form of art.Hand Trimming: The trimming around the edges of a coffee table can either be done painstakingly by hand or by using a router. Either way looks great, but obviously you’ll be getting into paying much more when it is done by hand.Different Designs of Coffee Tables: Some different designs you may want to keep in mind when choosing the perfect cherry coffee table for you are… The Two Tier design- These have a table top like most coffee tables, but will have another full area underneath the table top that is another table top. This doubles the area you can put stuff on and is a great design. Single Tier- These will just have the single coffee table top and no surface underneath. Drawers-Many cherry coffee tables come with drawer systems. Keep in mind the more you have the harder it will be to move the table! Flip-Top- The entire top flips up to reveal storage inside the box design underneath. Talk about heavy! Some Cheap Brands of Cherry Coffee Table: Remember from our discussion above that when going cheaper, that usually means you are getting a veneer design.
